BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) has achieved an impressive milestone by surpassing $10 billion in assets under management, making it the third-fastest fund to reach this level in ETF history. According to Bloomberg data, only BlackRock’s and Fidelity’s Bitcoin spot funds have done it quicker. ETHA reached this threshold in just 251 days, while the iShares Bitcoin Trust and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund achieved it in 34 and 53 days, respectively.
The fund experienced remarkable growth, doubling its assets in just 10 days, adding $5 billion during this time, which is the quickest any ETF has grown from this milestone. Eric Balchunas, a Senior ETF Analyst at Bloomberg, remarked that the rapid influx of investments is unusually fast and indicated a strong combination of asset price increases and robust investment flows.
Ethereum’s price has also seen a significant uptick, recently hovering around $3,710, after nearing $3,850—its highest price since December. This surge in ETHA and Ethereum’s price appears to be interconnected, though Balchunas noted the dynamics between flows and price movements remain complex.
The recent legislative climate under U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, including the passage of the GENIUS Act, has created a more favorable environment for digital assets, further boosting Ethereum’s appeal. In just the first three days of a recent week, U.S.-listed Ethereum ETFs garnered over $1.1 billion in inflows.
Despite this success, Ethereum ETFs have not yet matched the performance of Bitcoin counterparts, which currently hold over $140 billion in assets. However, the recent enthusiasm surrounding stablecoins and Ethereum treasury companies has signaled a newfound demand for Ethereum ETFs, suggesting a potential shift in market dynamics.
As ETF investments gain momentum, the situation raises questions about whether this surge will lead to a breakout in Ethereum pricing or if it will settle within its current trading range.
