WalletConnect has officially launched its WCT token on the Solana blockchain, a significant step in its transition towards being a multichain protocol. As part of this launch, the platform has announced an airdrop of 5 million WCT tokens to active users of Solana.

Furthermore, Robinson Burkey, co-founder and CCO of Wormhole Foundation, termed WCT’s expansion as indicative of a growing demand for seamless, secure inter-ecosystem value transfer. Looking ahead, WalletConnect is already developing further integrations with other blockchains and plans to unveil new governance features and token-based incentives as the WCT becomes more widely utilized.
Notable applications on Solana, including lending platform Save and DeFi protocol Kamino Finance, have been using WalletConnect’s infrastructure. Since its inception in 2018, WalletConnect has facilitated over 278 million connections and supports 45 million unique active wallets.
